Hello All,
It is now (technically) Spring in the Rockies, but it still feels like Winter. We had snow in town just a couple of weeks ago, and the mountains are getting snow right now. Today we set an all time minimum high temperature for this date, at a whopping 40 degrees. Six degrees below the previous record. I guess this is our payback for having 70 degree weather in the middle of Winter. The landscape has turned green at least. It is raining so much now that it can hardly be seen, though.
I took a business trip to Las Vegas for the Networld/Inter-op conference about a month ago. It's a big conference for computer networking. I had a fun time, and did not loose too much money gambling. I toured through a bunch of the hotels there. They are pretty amazing. The Treasure Island hotel has a full sized ship battle that is enacted about every hour. It was fun to watch, but I couldn't see all of it because the crowd was so large.
I came pretty close to moving back to Southern California last month. I had a job lined up with an old friend (of 17 years - yikes!), but it fell through at the last minute. My habitual procrastination came through for me this time, as I had put off all of the arrangements for the move. I had not given my notice at work, either. So it caused me no problems in the end.
I took a quick trip to Orlando, Florida for the wedding of a friend from my days in the Navy. We were on the same ship together. I spent only four days there, but it was a good trip. I went to the wedding of a friend from work last weekend. At the end of June another friend (from high school- another long time friend) is getting married in Boise, Idaho. This is the summer of going to weddings for me. Another friend from work is getting married in July, but I won't be attending that one.
I finally got motivated and finished painting my bathroom. It was "in progress" for about six months. Now I have to re-do the floor. The linoleum is awful. I think that I will put in tile. Who knows how long this project will take.
I might take a business trip to Chile, South America this Summer to install some software. The schedule is very tentative right now, mostly based upon getting the money for it. I am real anxious to go, as I have never been to South America. The plan is to visit Santiago and Punta Arenas. Santiago is a huge city, and is the capital of Chile. Punta Arenas is a small port town at just about the southern tip of the continent. The weather will not be real good there, as it will be winter time. I should spend about two weeks total time for the trip.

Well, I just bought a new car. After much agonizing over which one to get, I finally decided. I got an Acura Integra GS-R Coupe and is a blue-green color. My old car was 9 1/2 years old and had 135,800 miles on it. It was old and tired. In fact, it died at the car dealership. When they went to test drive it to see how much they would offer for it in trade it would not even attempt to start. I guess I had pretty good timing. Part of my desire to buy right now is that I will be driving to my friends wedding in Boise later this month, and I am planning on driving to my ten year college reunion in Annapolis, Maryland in October. Hard to believe it has been ten years. Well, I have been here in Colorado for over three years now. Time really is flying by.
My parents are currently on a cruise along the coast of Norway. They are scheduled to return in a week, so the trip should be about half over. They flew to England, then to the North end of Norway. From there they got on a ship to travel down the coast. They are probably about to take the overland trip to Oslo. From there they go to Helsinki and on to St. Petersburg (or whatever it is called now) and then they will fly back home. There were many permutations in the planning of this trip, so I hope I recalled the final version correctly.
This has been a pretty meager letter this time around. Maybe I will have some good adventures in Boise, South America and Annapolis to exaggerate for you.
