Hello to All,
I am, once again, about to make my way down to Antarctica. This year I have a little more defined schedule than last year. I plan on leaving Denver on September 20th and flying to Southern California. No, I'm not going to do the long one day drive from Denver to LA this time. I will have a short holiday there after which I will fly to Christchurch, New Zealand on September 23rd. I will be working in Christchurch for about two weeks, as I did last year. I am scheduled to fly down to McMurdo on the fourth flight of the season (which should be on or about October 9th where I am supposed to stay until the station closes in late February. I am not scheduled to make it down to the South Pole this season, but I'm sure that it can be squeezed in there somewhere.
My six months back in civilization has been fun. Not many major happenings, but an enjoyable summer in the sun. My only trip was to Mexico to visit my parents for a week. It was great fun, and came at a time when I really needed a holiday. I have continued my reading, finishing seven books this summer.
Sorry about this being a mass produced letter. It is the only way I can keep up with all of the people I want to keep in touch with. I will continue my series of letters chronicling my time on the ice as I did last year, they were fun to write. In case you feel like reciprocating, my address while in Antarctica will be the same as last ear:

Mail, of any kind, is very exciting in such a small and isolated place like McMurdo.
I am packing up my things and deciding what to put away in my storage shed and what to take with me. I have gone out to buy a few things for warmth and for entertainment to take with me. This year I take my own computer with me. I recently bought a notebook computer for this very purpose.
I hope that all is well with you, and I hope to hear from you soon. Bye for now.
